CBO aligns hotel concierges and local tourist-driven businesses with a complete end-to-end booking and reservation solution. Through a single interface and dedicated search engine, concierges are able to directly connect hotel guests with CBO member businesses that provide visitor services such as carriage tours, restaurant reservations and sporting event/artistic performance tickets.
Further value for hotel guests is built in to CBO, as service provider's offer a customer appreciation discount for each activity booked via the system. Each business is required to provide a discount that will be applied when services are booked through CBO.
CBO brings together concierges, hotel guests seeking services and amenities, and local travel retailers who can fulfill those visitor requests with a seamless, efficient online process. Visitors can see detailed information right there on the concierge's computer screen, get maps, make reservations and buy tickets from the comfort of their hotel.
Once a guest books a service or activity through CBO, the selected participating business receives the reservation and payment information via email directly from the CBO system. Visitors then simply proceed to the directed location of their chosen service and can avoid any ticket lines or extended waits.
If a couple staying at a downtown hotel wants a carriage ride, their concierge uses CBO to book the tour from the large network of participating providers at the discounted CBO customer appreciation rate. The concierge swipes the guest's credit card and then prints their carriage ride vouchers, while CBO sends the paid reservation information to the provider. When the couple shows up at the appointed time, the provider is expecting them and there are no delays.
CBO also rewards concierges for using the system. Concierges and travel retailers frequently struggle to accurately track the number of referrals given by the concierge and revenues generated by the business from those referrals, making a "concierge incentive program" especially difficult to manage. With CBO, those figures are generated and tracked automatically with each booking, enabling both concierge and retailer to immediately see the volume of business being created through the referrals.
Concierges booking guest services through CBO receive a $3.00 referral fee for all transactions up to $100.00 in value. For transactions exceeding $100, the concierge receives a flat 10% commission of the total value of the booking.
Advertisers in the Charleston Visitor Map Guide are automatically enrolled in CBO at no cost. A membership fee applies to non-advertising businesses who participate in CBO.
The incentive for businesses to be providers in the CBO system is the ease and efficiency in which customers will be sent to their establishments. Every business owner wants the concierges to send them their hotel guests, and when the business participates in CBO, those customers are just a few clicks away!
